Douglas Town Centre Management’s predecessor Douglas Development Partnership was the principal lobbyist for the establishment of a regeneration initiative for the island’s capital. Investment in improving the image and environment of the island’s capital is critical if the Isle of Man is to continue to be successful in attracting new business and investment. Both the Isle of Man Government and Douglas Borough Council are working closely with the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce to continue to deliver the improvements required.

Projects already completed in areas such as Nelson Street, Strand Street, Duke Street and Regent Street have shown how a revitalised town centre environment can drastically improve the overall image of the town centre. Planning is already under way to extend the regeneration scheme to Castle Street, Marina Road and the rest of Duke Street.
